Frequently asked questions
Yes, I will help you in gettting an agent and manager. But first we focus on training you and getting your acting to a professional level where a worthwhile agent or manager would consider representing you. Then, towards the end of the curriculum when your acting is getting to the acceptable professional level, I turn you over to members of my team that are experts in helping actors get agents and managers. But remember: the key to getting a good agent and getting auditons is being a good actor. When your acting is good, getting a good agent and audtions is much easier. For more info click on the HELP GETTING AN AGENT tab at the top of the website to be taken to that page.
Yes. I will be training you in exactly what consistently working actors do in auditions to book the job. I know how to do this because I’m one of them. You’ll be trained is such a way as to handle anything that is asked of you during an audition. This training will allow you to thrive under pressure in spite of tension and nerves.
Absolutely! In fact I’ve found that the majority of my online students grew faster as actors than my in person ones. It was all due to the focus, intimacy and intensity of communicating online. I found that my concepts and lessons communicated deeper, allowing the student to grasp them quicker and more completely. Remember this is not a typical acting class, it’s private, one-on-one, so it’s an entirely different animal. If you have a good phone, IPad or computer and a solid WiFi connection everything will work great.
95% of my students end up buying the entire curriculum of 20 sessions. They buy it either all at once or by combining the smaller packages. Its just cheaper to buy it all at once, but whatever works for you is fine. The smaller packages just allow an easier payment plan to pay for the entire 20 sessions. There is great value in just taking a smaller package but if being a working actor is your true goal then completing the 20 sessions is a must.
The average student does a one-hour session either once a week or every-other week. Some take longer to complete their homework which is ok, its not a race. I want you to fully own and understand each step of the training, so if it takes a little longer that is fine. So ultimately it can take anywhere from 5 months to 10 months to finish all 20 sessions. It all depends on how quickly you complete your homework and preperation of each assigned scene.
When you’ve completed the preparation of the assigned scene and applied all the tools we are working on for that session, you will just email or text me and I will put you on the schedule.
I generally coach Monday to Friday 11:00am to 5:00pm east coast time or 8:00am to 2:00pm west coast time. I also coach on the weekends occasionally to make sure everybody gets a session in. But there is still room for flexibility to allow for special schedules, but that will need to be discussed and pre-approved with Rod.
Yes, I supply all the scenes. As a coach I believe the scene your given is the most important aspect of the training. I choose scenes with very specific types of traps in them that will aid you in truly understanding the tools you will be learning. The difficulty of the assigned scenes will increase as we advance thru the curriculum. The majority of schools out there have the students find their own scenes to work on. To me that is just absurd and lazy coaching. Working on the correct scene at the correct time is the key to timely growth. As your coach I am your guide, leader, and acting industry parent.
I will be your scene partner. The best part of this is having a professional actor as your scene partner. It’s an entirely different experience than having to do a scene with another beginning actor. As a professional actor, my acting is alive and in the moment, so it allows you to truly react and be present and alive in your own acting much quicker.
Yes, I am still auditioning frequently and actively working as an actor. I believe I don’t have the right to train and mentor actors to a career if I’m not able to continue to land high level professional acting work myself. My own acting and methods of training are constantly growing and evolving.
I will be training you in the Stanislavsky technique of acting, or most commonly called ‘The Method’.
